Why did Skutt start Kids Need Clay?
Kids Need Clay was created out of our deep commitment to ceramics education for kids and our desire to make it accessible to every school. Having worked directly with schools, we understand the challenges they face. Many teachers lack proper training to teach ceramics or operate kilns. Kilns need regular maintenance and repair, but there’s no structured support system in place. Equipment is often purchased and installed by people unfamiliar with its needs. Additionally, schools face budget constraints that make it difficult to sustain clay programs.
