WIN A SKUTT KILN
K-12 Edition

Here’s your chance to
have your students WIN a KILN for your school in
2009.
Don’t miss your chance to win this brand new Skutt
Kiln for your classroom in 2009. Entries for the contest are due no
later than January 23rd. Here is how to qualify:
1) Have your K-12 grade level
students make a Peep Plug (see below for details.)
2) Take a picture of each Peep Plug and enter them
online at http://www.skutt.com/peepholeplug/register2.html.
3) If one or more of your students Peep Plugs are
chosen as a finalist, you will be contacted to bring the selected
plug or plugs to the Skutt booth at the NAEA national convention to
be juried for the grand prize. The Peep Plug must be hand delivered
to the booth to be eligible. Please do not mail plugs to Skutt or
the convention.
4) The winner will be selected by Skutt on the final
day of the show and the kiln will be shipped directly to your school
free of charge.
5) All entries must be picked up at the Skutt booth on
the final day of the show if you wish to keep them.
What is a Peep Plug?
In case you are not sure what Peep Plugs are, they are
the ceramic plugs used in kilns to plug the holes which are used for
venting and “peeping” into the kiln. There are some on the left side
of the kiln pictured here. The plugs you enter must fit into a
standard peep hole. This means they will have a conical appendage
that fits into the Peep Hole. The appendage should be approximately
2.5 inches long and taper down from 1” to 5/8”. You can see examples
below.
The show is our way of honoring and rewarding art
teachers for their hard work and dedication to their students. This
should be a fun and interesting project for you and your students.
If you already have a kiln, consider entering anyway and donate the
kiln to a less fortunate school of your choice.
Good luck! We can’t wait to see your entries!
Make them now the deadline is January for
entries.
