Richard Garriott-Stejskal

6 x 6 Log Cabin

Deborah Buress has been working with fused glass for 5 years although glass fusing dates back to the ancient Egyptians and the methods haven’t changed much in 5000 years.

Every glass piece is made by layering at least two sheets of glass and then put in a kiln and heated at temperatures of about 1500 degrees Fahrenheit, at which point the glass fuses together and becomes one piece. The glass is then cooled to room temperature and put into a mold and refired in the kiln to form the desired shape. You will notice little bubbles in her pieces. These occur as the glass literally begins to boil when it is fused. They look like fish bubbles in the ocean. Due to this process, none of Deborah's pieces are ever exactly the same.

Deborah works fusing glass while she is in Martha’s Vineyard and Delray Beach. She uses a beautiful palette of colors reminiscent of the magnificent oceans she lives near. All of her plates are signed and dated.

The glass dishes can be put in the dishwasher or microwave, and are very sturdy. Please enjoy.
